Snapshot

Keywords: fundamentals of electricity, electrical characterisation of textiles

Introduction

Electronic textiles, also known as smart textiles, smart garments, smart clothing or smart fabrics, smart textiles are fabrics that enable digital technologies (components/electronics) to be embedded and interwoven in them, and provide added value to the wearer reacting to body and environmental stimuli (mechanical, thermal, chemical, biological, and magnetic).

With digital technologies as the enabler of communication/interaction between the user and the environment, the fundamental laws of electricity and electronics are crucial for an understanding of the existing and potential functions of smart textiles. The knowledge and skills acquired through the unit will allow the students to creatively solve problems and communicate in interdisciplinary teams to transfer innovation to novel applications and fields.
